For Sherlock of some flavor or another

There's a heavy bag hung up on one of the trees at the edge of the Milliways forest. It's a little off the beaten path, which is nice, and Bryce finds that working in the cool not-Scottish air is a lot less dehydrating than working in the California sun.

For her size (she's middling tall but not very bulky), she's giving the bag a fairly thorough beating.

"I have an identical twin brother," she adds, in case this helps clarify anything.

"Identical looking or identical?"

[sicaria]

"Identical, or it would not be relevant. We're certainly not identical looking anymore."

". . . You're perfect, though," Bryce says, puzzled.

[sicaria]

"I know."

[tofightinjustice]

"You--"

Not you are, evidently.

"--were a boy?"

[sicaria]

"In a sense, but only a very limited one. And now I am as you see me."

"Wow."

But she's

(beautiful)

for all intents and purposes perfect. It's boggling.

". . . Okay."

[sicaria]

Wryly: "And now you know how good they are at cosmetic alteration in the Capitol."

[tofightinjustice]

She nods slowly.

"The accent's a way better indicator."

Invisible clues are no clues at all.

[sicaria]

"Cases like mine are often their subtlest work, though. Other people tend to want things that humanity doesn't naturally produce."

[tofightinjustice]

"That's not necessarily a good indicator around here, either."

[sicaria]

"I take your point."

[tofightinjustice]

She hesitates, cracks her knuckles absently, looks Sherlock over.

". . . May I ask you a question?"

[sicaria]

"Yes."

[tofightinjustice]

When did you know? How did you know? What did it take to make you this? How much did they change? Did it change how you fought?








"If we sparred, would you try to kill me?"

[sicaria]

"No."

Quick, firm, honest. No possibility of there ever having been another answer.

[tofightinjustice]

A nod.


"Why not?" The corner of her mouth lifts. "Just curious."

[sicaria]

"I like you. I don't want you dead. I have no reason to kill you."

[tofightinjustice]

Her smile widens, just a little.

"Thanks."

Beat.

"It's mutual."

[sicaria]

"Glad to hear it."

[tofightinjustice]

"Would you like to spar with me?"

[sicaria]

"Yes, I think I would."

[tofightinjustice]

Bryce grins, bright and pleased.

"You promise you won't kill me?"

[sicaria]

Sherlock laughs. "I promise."
